Area Head Start gets $1.7 million
The Department of Health and Human Services has approved $7.3 million in federal funds for Missouri Head Start programs. East Missouri Action Agency Inc. will receive $1,737,283 in federal dollars. Begun in 1964 to foster healthy development in low-income children, Head Start has expanded into a variety of services, including early childhood development; nutrition; and parent involvement.
Sen. Kit Bond, R-Mo., made the announcement about the funding on Tuesday.
