The Cape County Gun Club, located just west of Pioneer Orchard on Highway 72 in Jackson, will soon replace its skeet throwers through a grant by the Friends of the NRA.
Friends of the NRA committee member Gary Kamp announced the award at a recent NRA banquet.
The club offers the use of its facility for recreational shooting to members of the Boy Scouts, 4-H, Hunter Education and FFA programs, but members had had to become creative in fixing the used skeet throwers, which were purchased in the early 1970s.
Club president Dee Dee Dockins said, "Receiving a grant from the Friends of the NRA allows our club to continue to provide area youth organizations and law enforcement agencies shooting opportunities at no cost."
Last year, the Cape Girardeau-area Friends of the NRA raised over $27,000, dedicating half of the proceeds to programs benefiting youth developmental shooting opportunities.
