JACKSON -- Miss Jackson Homecomers 1994 Amanda Lomax will pass on her crown when 18 teen-agers from across the area vie for the title Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Entertainment will begin at 7 p.m. The evening's theme will be "A Night to Remember." American Legion Post 158 sponsors the annual crowning.

Kirk Williams will be master of ceremonies, said chairwoman Imogene Schnurbusch. Shane Steck will provide music for the crowning.

Queen contestants, by the city they represent:

JACKSON -- Gina Parenteau, daughter of Wayne and Rhonda Parenteau, graduated from Jackson High School. She plans to major in nursing at Southeast Missouri State University. Parenteau plays in the Jackson Municipal Band and enjoys swimming and roller-blading.

LAKE FOREST -- Alissa Drury will be a junior at Valle High School this year. As a sophomore, she was active in the pep club, band and basketball. She is a member of the Valle Campus Ministry. Drury is the daughter of Larry and Christine Drury.

NEW HAMBURG -- Heather Burger is heading into her senior year at Kelly High School near Benton. She was president of her class and of FFA. Burger also participated in varsity basketball and softball, FBLA and FHA. She is the daughter of Robin and Nancy Burger.

ORAN -- Heather Abner, daughter of Dwayne and Nancy Abner, was president of FBLA and participated in several other activities at Scott County Central her senior year. She plans to attend Southeast and major in marine biology.

POCAHONTAS -- Kristina Bosco, who will be a senior at Jackson High School, is a member of the Pocahontas 4-H. She enjoys attending church, babysitting and helping people. Bosco is the daughter of Donald and Kathy Newell.

STE. GENEVIEVE -- Nicki Klein spent her summer preparing for the National Junior Olympics, where she competed in the heptathlon. She will be a junior at Valle Catholic High School this year, and has been active in cheerleading, drama, track and volleyball. She is the daughter of Jim and Carol Klein.

VANDUSER -- Alyshia McBride, daughter of Barry and Susie McBride, will be a junior at Notre Dame High School in Cape Girardeau this fall. She is a member of Spanish Club and the Lady Bulldog basketball team. McBride also does volunteer work with Birthright.

BENTON -- Rebecca Messmer will be a junior at Thomas W. Kelly High School this year. Her extracurricular activities have included student council, Beta Club, Art Club and cheerleading. She enjoys helping her dad restore her 1969 Camero. She is the daughter of Walter and Carol Messmer.

CAPE GIRARDEAU COUNTY -- Carrie Heise enjoys writing poetry, singing, modeling and coaching soccer. She attended Jackson High School and will attend Southeast, majoring in pre-law. She is the daughter of Charles and Linda Heise.

SCOTT CITY -- Jennifer Miller, daughter of Michael and Debbera Miller, plays volleyball, basketball, softball and track and is a football cheerleader. The soon-to-be junior at Scott City High School also plays the piano, teaches swimming and loves to ride her horse.

SIKESTON -- Bekky King, daughter of Janet Miller, will be a senior at Kelly High School. Her hobbies include riding horses, shopping and spending time with family and friends. She works for Southwestern Bell Telephone. She has been active in FFA, FHA, FBLA, SADD and student council.

DEXTER -- Jodi Warren will be a senior at Dexter High School, where she participated in the cooperative education and chamber choir programs. She plans to attend Three Rivers Junior College and then Southeast. She is the daughter of Donna Warren and Jim Warren.

CAPE GIRARDEAU: Lori Lester, a graduate of Central High School, plans to attend Southeast and major in elementary education. She was a member of the pom-pon squad her sophomore, junior and senior years, and her hobbies include jogging, aerobics, swimming and fishing. She is the daughter of Doug and Nancy Lester.

DESLOGE -- Stephanie Farrell will begin her senior year at North County R-I High School in the fall. She is a four-year member of concert choir, a two-year member of North County Singers and has opened for Dolly Parton and the Charlie Daniels Band at Farmington's annual Country Days. Farrell is the daughter of Mark and Pamela Farrell.

BONNE TERRE -- Lisa Adkins, daughter of Galen and Karen Forney, has been active in dancing for 13 years and is an assistant at O'Dell's Dance Center in Desloge. She will be a senior at North County High School, where she is active in National Honor Society, Foreign Language Club, FTA and Art Club.

BURFORDVILLE -- Tiffany Noce, daughter of William and Susan Noce, will be a senior at Jackson High School. She has been active in Drama Club, FHA, mixed chorus and Prayer Club at school and is a member of TOPS in Jackson. Noce plans to attend Southeast and study teaching or police work.

FREDERICKTOWN -- Whitney Rehkop will be a senior at Fredericktown High and plans eventually to attend University of Missouri-Columbia and major in elementary education. She has been involved in FFA, FBLA, Beta Club, Math Club, Science Club, Speech Club and band. She is the daughter of Mike and Rita Rehkop.

FRUITLAND -- Jamie Burgfeld, a graduate of Jackson High School, is enrolled at Southeast, where she will study law enforcement. She enjoys sports, music, dancing, modeling and horseback riding. Burgfeld is the daughter of Lawson and Jude Burgfeld.

There will be two Little Miss Homecomers girls helping with the pageant this year.

Jessica Kirn, daughter of Paul and Marie Kirn of Jackson, will be a second-grader at Immaculate Conception School this fall. She is 7, and spent her summer visiting aunts and uncles in California.

Amanda Whaley, daughter of Steve and Pam Whaley of Jackson, is 6. She attends St. Paul Lutheran School. She loves her ballet and tap lessons and is a member of Daisy Troop 209.

The two escorts of Miss Homecomers candidates will be Nathan Hoffman and Jason Ludwig. Both will be seniors at Jackson High School this year.

Hoffman is on the golf team, enjoys hunting and fishing, and attends St. Paul Lutheran Church. He is the son of Kerry and Linda Hoffman and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Hoffmeister and Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hoffman. All his grandparents are active in the American Legion.

Ludwig, an instructor for Universal Martial Arts, enjoys reading, playing and listening to music and kick-boxing. His school activities include participation in Drama Club, band and FBLA. He is the son of David and Janet Ludwig.

Amanda Puckett and Jill Becker, both soon-to-be seniors at Jackson High School, will serve as hostesses for the pageant.

Puckett, daughter of Vicki Abernathy and Tracy Puckett, plans to attend the University of Kentucky and become an agriculture lawyer. She is a JHS Spear-It Dancer and is on the All-American Dance Squad.

Becker is involved in varsity basketball, cross-country and track. She is active in Pep Club, Spanish Club, FBLA and band and attends St. Paul Lutheran Church. She is the daughter of Gary and Christine Becker.
