Fishing ranges from fair to good at various area lakes and water impoundments this week.
Duck Creek near Puxico is clear, with all species fair. Vegetation is heavy.
Clearwater lake is clear and normal, with crappie good at night using minnows. Catfish is fair, and bass poor.
Wappapello Lake is clear with sparse vegetation. Bass fishing is good with best catches on spinnerbaits. Bluegill fishing is good using crickets, and catfish have been providing activity on trotlines and juglines, using liver and prepared baits.
Horseshoe Lake in Southern Illinois is a hotspot for crappie, with fish being caught off the bottom in the middle of the lake. Bluegill has tailed off, but bass action remains fair on spinner baits.
