A series of area car crashes have left several people dead and many others injured.
Sunday afternoon, a Missouri truck driver was killed in Butler County when his Freightliner truck ran off the right side of the road and overturned.
Kyle D. Erwin, 44, of Wheatland, Missouri, was driving north on U.S. 67, just south of U.S. 60 West. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported he was not wearing a seat belt.
Also on Sunday, a 30-year old Doniphan, Missouri, woman was killed and four others injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 142 near Neelyville, Missouri.
In that accident, a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix driven by Michael J. Mugler, 31, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, failed to yield at an intersection and struck a 2000 Ford Ranger. Mugler's passenger, Amanda J. Kirkpatrick, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Mugler suffered serious injuries along with Mark C. Taylor, 37, of Neelyville.
Taylor's passengers, Hunter W. Taylor, 10, and Raylyn M. Taylor, 7, both of Neelyville, suffered moderate injuries.
Two Lilbourn, Missouri, men were injured in a collision in New Madrid County on Sunday, as well.
Daniel Roberson, 55, was driving on County Road 314 when his 2004 Chevrolet Colorado ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned. He and a passenger, 52-year-old Tobias K. Hampton, were both transported to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri, with moderate injuries. The Missouri State Highway Patrol said it was not known whether either man was wearing a seat belt.
On Saturday, a Portageville, Missouri, man was killed in a head-on collision when a woman's vehicle crossed the center of Route DD at 5:25 a.m. Jon G. Corbett was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Robert E. Howell, 36, of Caruthersville, Missouri, was taken to a regional trauma center with serious injuries.
The female driver, 36-year-old Catherine C. Mayes, was treated for moderate injuries.
In Pemiscot County on Wednesday, three people were injured in a crash on U.S. 412 at Route NN, east of Kennett, Missouri.
Vickie L. Glidewell, 59, of Steele, Missouri, was driving a 2011 Dodge Ram pickup that pulled into the path of a 2007 Chevy Uplander driven by 40-year-old Cardell Luster, of Wardell, Missouri. He and a passenger, 39-year-old Ronie D. King of Homestown, Missouri, were seriously injured. Neither were wearing seat belts.
Glidewell's injuries were described as moderate. The highway patrol reported she was wearing a seat belt at the time.
