AREA CRASHES KILL TWO, INJURE OTHERS

Two St. Louis men were killed Friday when their car collided with a pickup truck on Highway 67 near Silva in Southeast Missouri.

Also Friday, a Cape Girardeau woman was injured in an accident near Patton, said a spokesman for the Missouri Highway Patrol in Poplar Bluff. The fatal accident occurred at 10:20 p.m. in Wayne County. Killed were Thomas Anderson, 23, and William Anderson, 22.

According to the patrol, a southbound car driven by Thomas Anderson crossed the center line of Highway 67 and struck a pickup truck driven by a Little Rock, Ark., man.

James P. Huff, 20, and Walter Mezyk, 32, both of Little Rock, suffered minor injuries in the accident.

In the other accident, Deborah Gregory, 23, of Cape Girardeau was treated and released at Southeast Missouri Hospital following a two-vehicle accident at 10:30 p.m. on Highway 72, a half mile east of Patton.

A patrol spokesman said the accident involved a westbound vehicle driven by Richard Mayberry, 31, of Patton and an eastbound car driven by Phillip Gregory, 24, of Cape Girardeau.

The patrol spokesman said the accident occurred when the Mayberry vehicle crossed the center line and struck the Gregory vehicle. Mayberry was arrested for careless and imprudent driving and driving while intoxicated.
