Two area Christian churches will present separate programs on the Passover this weekend. Both events are free and open to the public.
"Christ in the Passover" is a presentation that explains what the Jewish Passover ceremony and Jesus' Last Supper have in common.
A representative of Jews for Jesus, an evangelistic Jewish organization, will speak at 8 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church and again at 6 p.m. Sunday at First General Baptist Church in Jackson.
The presentation aims to increase Christian understanding of Jewish traditions. It describes ancient and modern Jewish customs while explaining how a Seder meal would be conducted.
Seder, or the Passover feast, implies important elements of the Christian faith and usually takes about four hours to complete in a Jewish home. It an eight-day festival that commemorates the Jewish exodus from Egypt.
