A Perryville man was in critical condition at a Cape Girardeau hospital Friday night after his vehicle struck a tree.

Cory Lee, 20, suffered serious injuries in the accident, which occurred on Route T, three-tenths of a mile west of Route BB, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Lee fell asleep, and his westbound vehicle ran off the south side of the roadway and struck a tree, according to the patrol.

He was transported to Southeast Missouri Hospital, where he was in the intensive care unit Friday night.

The accident occurred about 8:15 a.m. Friday.

Three people were injured in two separate accidents Thursday.

In Perry County, Cynthia Rubendall, 38, of Valsberry, Mo., was transported to Perry County Memorial Hospital Thursday evening after her car overturned in the median of northbound Interstate 55.

The accident occurred at 5:25 p.m. after the rear left wheel of the vehicle came completely off and the rear front wheel came partially off Rubendall's vehicle.

In Butler County, a man and a woman suffered serious injuries Thursday morning when their vehicles collided on U.S. 67 four miles south of Poplar Bluff.

Bradley Crutchfield, 25, of Harvill was transported to Lucy Lee Hospital.

Deborah Davis, 47, of Fairdealing was transported to Lucy Lee and then taken to Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

The accident occurred when Crutchfield's southbound vehicle crossed the center line of U.S. 67 and struck Davis' vehicle. Davis tried to avoid the collision, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at 7:15 a.m.
