People joining the National Arbor Day Foundation this month can receive 10 free shade trees.
The free trees are part of the nonprofit foundation's Trees for America campaign.
The 10 shade trees are sugar maple, red oak, pin oak, green ash, thornless honeylocust, weeping willow, river birch, tuliptree, silver maple and red maple.
"Spectacular fall colors are among the many benefits of these beautiful shade trees," foundation President John Rosenow said.
The trees will be shipped for planting between Nov. 1 and Dec. 10 with enclosed planting instructions. The six- to 12-inch trees are guaranteed to grow, or they will be replaced free of charge.
To become a member of the foundation and to receive the free trees, send a $10 membership contribution to Shade Trees, National Arbor Day Foundation, 100 Arbor Ave., Nebraska City, NE 68410, by Oct. 31.
