The person who last week anonymously donated a "sizable" amount of cash to the campaign against riverboat gambling has come forward to reclaim the money.

The contribution initially was received by a person on the steering committee of Citizens Against Riverboat Gambling. Earlier this week, the organization announced that it could not keep the donation because anonymous contributions in excess of $50 are illegal.

A spokesman also said the group would not accept such a large donation from an individual even if the person were known.

He said the organization has been satisfied as to the identity of the donor and is the process of returning the gift, said to be "several thousand dollars."
