Medical transcriptionists transcribe physician-dictated medical reports which become a permanent part of the patient's medical record and function as an important document for medico-legal and billing purposes.
They must be skilled in English grammar and spelling and have a command of anatomy, laboratory procedures, pharmacology, human diseases, surgical procedures and medical terminology.
Transcriptionists must know all words doctors know, how to spell them, and what they mean.
