ANNA GIRL WILL VIE IN PAGEANT

ANNA, Ill. -- Jennifer Amanda Ray, 10, of Anna, will compete in the Memphis-in-May Classic Beauty Pageant May 19.

The pageant, part of the city's Memphis-in-May activities, will be held at the Peabody Hotel.

Ray will represent the Heartland Missouri, Illinois and Kentucky in the pageant. She is the daughter of David and Sharon Ray of Anna.

She entered her first pageant in July 1990. She won Miss Sweetheart Pre-Teen in Marion. In December 1990, she won a Dixieland Sweetheart Pageant in Paducah, Ky. She was also named Miss December on a calendar featuring girls from the pageant. Ray also won Jr. Miss Sweetheart Pageant at Caruthersville, Mo.

The contest in Memphis is a national competition, said pageant director Annette Meyers.
