About 25 animals seized from a Millersville-area home Monday will remain in the custody of the Humane Society of Missouri pending a disposition hearing expected to be scheduled for later this month, according to Missouri Department of Agriculture spokeswoman Christine Tew.
The animals, including nine dogs, five cats, five horses and several birds, were removed from the rural Cape Girardeau County residence early Monday morning and transported to St. Louis, Tew said.
No charges have been filed in the case, the Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney's Office said Thursday.
