The ancient Japanese process of making pottery, called Raku, will be taught during a three-week workshop this summer at Southeast Missouri State University.

The workshop starts June 30 and continues Tuesday through Friday through July 17. No experience is necessary.

Participants will learn this Japanese process where pottery is placed into a flaming hot kiln with tongs and removed in the same manner when the glaze has melted.

Students will experience forming, glazing and firing each piece individually.

Fred Burnett will be teaching the course, which also carries three college credit hours.
