ANCELL GRADE SCHOOL REUNION TO BE ON JULY 6

SCOTT CITY -- Former students of the Ancell g rade school have scheduled a reunion for July 6 at the Scott City Park.

Gladys Raines Smith of Scott City said the reunion committee is trying to locate other former students with whom they have lost touch.

"We think the school opened in 1913 and was torn down in 1915 when a one-room brick building was built," said Smith. "Our records go back to 1919 or 1920."

The school closed permanently in 1954, Smith said.

The committee is also looking for people who may have pictures of the school.

The reunion begins at 11 a.m. at the horseshoe pavilion. A catered meal will be served. For reservations or further information, contact Smith at 264-4655 or Margie Burton Schlosser at 545-3891.
