ST. LOUIS -- The 2008 winner of NBC's "America's Got Talent" is pledging to take better care of himself after a brief hospital stay for exhaustion.
Neal E. Boyd is a Sikeston, Mo., native who now lives in suburban St. Louis. He experienced shortness of breath and a fever on Wednesday after returning from Las Vegas, where he performed two days earlier on the Jerry Lewis MDA Telethon. He checked himself into St. Luke's Hospital.
His spokeswoman said doctors diagnosed exhaustion and released him Thursday. He is resting but does not expect to cancel upcoming appearances.
The heavyset singer whose operatic voice won the $1 million "America's Got Talent" prize said he will take more time to take care of his health.
