American Legion Talent Show searches for area talent

The Jackson American Legion Committees are searching for area talent for the Jackson American Legion Homecomers Talent Show.

The talent show will be a part of the annual Homecomers Celebration to be held Aug. 13-17 in Jackson.

Amateur acts of singing, dancing, acrobatics, and instrumentals are invited. Single entries, group entries, and duets entries are invited to participate. There will be no piano entries, however.

"Kids that want to participate and show their talents will be competing for money, plaques, and can go participate in the Mid-South Fair in Memphis," Jim Nelson, chairman, said.

Each night cash prizes will be awarded to first through fourth place winners. These winners will go on to compete on Friday night. The winners on Friday night will receive plaques and cash prizes.

The overall winners of the age group 13-21 will be invited to the Youth Talent Contest at the Mid-South Fair at Memphis, Tenn. Sept. 19-29.

On Tuesday night, dancers ages 6-12 will showcase their talent.

Wednesday night will feature talent acts other than dancing in two ages groups 6-12 and 13-21.

Thursday night dancing will be featured again and ages 6-12 and 13-21 will compete for the prizes and a chance to compete on Friday night.
