American Legion Post 158 of Jackson has selected the following students as Music Student of the Month for March, April and May, 1998. This is a program of the Americanism Committee of the Legion Post and recognizes outstanding music students of Jackson High School. Each of the students will receive a $100 Savings Bond in honor of their accomplishments.
For the month of March, the music student of the month is Seth Gregg, son of Steve and Diane Gregg of Cape Girardeau. Set is a senior at Jackson High School. Seth has been a member of the All-District Choir for five years, Madrigal Feast for three years, Pop concerts for three years and participated in the Choir Contests for three years. Seth attends First Baptist Church in Jackson and is a member of the Youth Choir. Following graduation, Seth plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University.
For the month of April, the music student of the month is Amanda Webb. Amanda is a senior at Jackson High School and is the daughter of Michael Webb and Diana Green. Amanda is a member of the Drama Club and participated in spring plays in 1997-98, and is a member of the Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Chamber Choir, Handbell Choir, Quill and Scroll, Speech and Debate Team, F.C.A., Hi-Step and participated in the State Music Competitions for Band and Choir. Amanda is Vice-President of the Band. Following graduation, Amanda plans to attend Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Mo.
For the month of May, the co-music student of the month is Joseph Myers. Joseph is a senior at Jackson High School and is the son of William and Charla Myers of Jackson. Joseph is a member of the Chamber Choir, Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Drama Club, All-District Choir, Choir Council, and a member of the All-District Jazz Band. Joseph has participated in the State Solo and Ensemble competition for Choir and Band for the past four years. Joseph has also been in the spring play presented by the Drama Club for the past three years. Joseph plans to attend Southeast Missouri State University for a year and concentrate on voice and guitar. He would then like to transfer to Berklee College of Music in Boston, Mass.
Our other co-music student of the month for May is Daniel Wunderlich. Daniel is the son of James and Marian Wunderlich of Jackson. James was a member of the Chamber Choir, Men's Choir, and was a member of the Choir Council. James is a member of the Symphonic and Marching Bands where he was a percussion section leader. Daniel has participated in solo and ensemble competition in band and choir. As a hobby Daniel flies remote controlled airplanes and is Vice-President of the local R/C Club. Daniel works part-time at Target in Cape Girardeau. Daniel is a member of Hanover Lutheran Church and sings in the church choir. After graduation, Daniel would like to attend Middle Tennessee State University and major in Commercial Music with an emphasis in Production & Technology. After college, Daniel would like to work in a recording studio, or teach or compose music.
