The March meeting of the American Legion Post # 158 was called to order by Commander Robert Hartle at 8 p.m., March 9. The Color Guard advanced the colors and Chaplain Charles Hutson, gave the opening prayer. The pledge of allegiance to the flag, and the preamble of the American Legion Constitution were recited in unison by 53 members present.

Program Chairman Bill Sullivan Introduced Mary Burton of the American Red Cross. The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.

Minuets of the Feb., 1999 meeting were approved after a discussion of omitted items relating to contributions to the American Legion Memorial Scholarship fund.

Trustee Chairman: Motion to pay $575 for a cotton wagon to be used for the base of a new Homecomers Stage. Motion carried. Motion for an initial $900 for expense money in stage construction. Motion carried.

Financial Report: Mike Proctor Report approved as read.

Bingo: Mike Hyson Bingo report was approved as read. Donation to the Post from Bingo to be forthcoming.

Americanism Committee: Charles Hutson: Josh Pfefferkorn and Adam Sherinski are the two individuals to represent the Post at Boys State l 999.

American Legion Baseball: Motion to pay $550 for insurance and SlOO entry fee for the A team and $65 entry fee for the B team. Motion made by Milton Nitsch and seconded by Bill Poe. Motion carried.

Child Welfare-Club Room-Hospital: Bill Poe Hospital equipment being well used. Report on coffee supplies sent to Cape VA clinic.

Graves Information: Glen Bollinger reported on a "Plot Plan" for the 1,100 new grave sites in Russell Heights.

House Report: Leon Laurentius Report approved as read. Hall rented two times in February and 4 times in March. Need help with the house on the 27 of March.

Membership: Keith Seabaugh We now have 628 members. That is 93% of our goal, we need 45 more to meet our goal.

Post Flag Information: Carlton Meyer. A nag was given to Zion Lutheran Church at Pocahontas, Heritage Gardens, Camp SEMO at Lake Wappapello, and Jackson High School.

Public Relations: Jim Nelson -- Contributions made to the Scholarship Fund during the past months were as follows:

Honor Guard: Mike Proctor reported on service for Fred Stockton.

Members were reminded that the new Honor Guard photo will be taken at Monday's meeting. Honor Guard members should wear uniforms.

Second reading on motion to purchase a $2,000 big screen TV for the Club room. Motion carried

Motion to donate $100 MS Walk.

Richard Decker shared information on desire to create a "book" about service activities of post members.

Winner for the drawing for $59.25 in the pot was William Call, who was not present. Cletis Bollinger, Jack Bixler, Shortie Oberman and Albert Kasten were also drawn; none were present:

It was announced that the Cape's Veteran's Home will have a~ "Water Garden" dedication 2:30 p.m., Sunday May ~2.

The Color Guard retired the Colors. Chaplain Charles Hutson gave closing prayer. Commander Hartle closed the meeting at 9:14 p.m.~

Refreshments: Charles Meyer Goulash, tossed salad, homemade cookies, peaches and drink
