The American Heart Association works to reduce disease and death caused by cardiovascular disease.
The agency sponsors cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) classes given to professionals and the public.
In addition, the Heart Association sponsors a number of other educational programs including a speaker's bureau.
This year, the organization hopes to begin two new projects.
"Heart at Work" is a program with local corporations and businesses to educate employees about reducing heart disease.
Also the Heart Association has sponsored a task force on women and heart disease.
