AmerenUE will donate 5,000 Energy Star light bulbs to the Southeast Missouri Area Agency on Aging for distribution to 22 senior centers. The compact fluorescent light bulbs use up to 75 percent less energy than typical incandescent light bulbs and last up to 10 times longer, according to an AmerenUE news release. The donation is part of AmerenUE's Project Power On, a campaign to encourage energy conservation, and coincides with the "Energy Star Change a Light, Change the World" campaign sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Department of Energy and the Midwest Energy Efficiency Alliance. The donation will take place at 11 a.m. Monday at the Cape Girardeau Senior Center, 921 N. Clark Ave.
