Ameren reports few power outages from storm

Despite heavy rainfall and frequent lightning, Ameren UE reported few power outages in the area, as of 6:20 a.m. today. According to Ameren's power outage Web site, Cape Girardeau County is the only county in Southeast Missouri with any reported power outages. Five of the 23,778 customers Ameren serves in Cape Girardeau County are currently without power.

At 6:15 a.m., the National Weather Service forecasted that a period of torrential rainfall, frequent lightning and wind gusts up to 30 m.p.h. will accompany storms that could impact the region. Stay tuned to semissourian.com for further updates.
