Kathleen Capps, community services representative with the East Missouri Action Agency, receives 25 Frigidaire Energy Star air-conditioning units from Mike Driskell, right, and Russell Burger with Ameren Missouri on Monday morning in Cape Girardeau. The units are just some of the 600 units donated by Ameren Missouri this summer through their air-conditioner giveaway program. The energy-efficient units will cost around 70 cents a day to run. The National Weather Service in Paducah, Ky., forecast for Cape Girardeau calls for temperatures in the 90s for at least the next seven days.
