Haresh Kamath, a graduating senior at Cape Girardeau Central High School, has been named one of 500 finalists in the 1992 Presidential Scholars Program.

He is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Prabhakar S. Kamath of Cape Girardeau.

Being chosen a presidential scholar is the highest federal honor bestowed upon graduating high school seniors. In early May, the White House is expected to announce the named of the 141 Presidential Scholars for 1992.

The 500 finalists were selected from approximately 2,500 high school seniors by a panel of educators who reviewed essays, self-assessments, descriptions of activities, school recommendations and academic transcripts.
