Rick Althaus has taken his campaign to the Internet.
The Southeast Missouri State University political science professor is the Democratic candidate for the 27th Senate seat.
He is seeking to defeat incumbent Republican Peter Kinder of Cape Girardeau.
Althaus has a web site that offers information on everything from his background and hobbies to campaign-related information and news releases. The site includes the text of his speech at the Aug. 30 rally for President Clinton at Capaha Park.
The web site can be accessed at http://www.Althaus4senate.com.
"We wanted to do it to find another way to communicate with the voters," said the Cape Girardeau Democrat.
"We thought this was a particularly good way to post information about our campaign and our issues," he said.
The Althaus campaign has been working on the web site for several weeks.
"It is not particularly costly, especially compared with sending out mail at 32 cents a stamp," he said.
Althaus said computer communication can help advance democracy.
