KENNETT, Mo. -- Kennett police officers arrested a 22-year-old Kennett man for allegedly burglarizing two homes Sunday.

At about 2:15 a.m., officers were dispatched to the residence of Rebecca Jewell to investigate a possible burglary.

According to a report filed by the Kennett Police Department, when officer Philip Caldwell arrived, Jewell said she had been awakened her dogs barking and noticed a screen had been pushed in and a door had been unlocked.

As Caldwell checked the area, he noticed footprints in the wet grass. He followed the footprints until he reached the Osborn Addition, where he saw a man in the front yard of 800 Osborn Avenue.

Caldwell commanded the man to stop, but the man began running. After a foot pursuit, Caldwell caught the man, identified as Jonathan Snider, of Kennett, and arrested him.

After searching Snider, Caldwell reported finding a wallet belonging to Jerry Combs, of Kennett, in Snider's pocket.

Police then went to Combs' residence and found that a window in a door had been broken and the house had been entered. Police awakened Combs and he confirmed the burglary had taken place.

Snider is being held in the Dunklin County Jail in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
