A Cape Girardeau woman was bound over for trial in circuit court Jan. 22 after pleading not guilty to first-degree felony assault of a law enforcement officer.

Lillie A. Dry, 39, of 1400 S. West End Blvd., is accused of biting the finger of a Cape Girardeau police officer trying to remove a bag of drugs from her mouth in December.

Dry reportedly has hepatitis C virus.

The maximum penalty for the offense is life imprisonment.

Dry is also charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution and misdemeanor unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

Dry has a case review hearing scheduled before Circuit Court Judge Benjamin Lewis Feb. 13.
