ST. LOUIS — Two more candidates are joining the race for mayor of St. Louis.
Alderman Antonio French and city Treasurer Tishaura Jones on Thursday announced they will seek the Democratic nomination. They join police chief Sam Dotson, board of aldermen president Lewis Reed and Alderwoman Lyda Krewson who also are running as Democrats in the heavily Democratic city.
French became a national figure during his activism in Ferguson after the police shooting of Michael Brown in 2014.
The Democratic primary is in March and the general election is in April.
Democratic incumbent Francis Slay announced earlier this year that he would not seek a fifth term.
