Interpol, Joy Division, The Cure, Bauhaus, Soulwax -- all these names seemed to be mentioned when discussing She Wants Revenge. This day and age everybody is going to sound similar to somebody from yesterday.
She Wants Revenge is comprised of Justin Warfield, a failed rapper, and Adam 12. Yes, Adam 12 of Powerman 5000. Failed rapper or not SWR is not a failure by far.
The self-titled album from SWR is dark, artsy, Goth-pop music at it's best. I can't seem to listen to this album enough. It's overflowing with rough-sex lyrics and heavy single note bass-lines -- a great make-out album.
"These Things," "Sister," "Us", and "Tear You Apart" are my favorite tracks. One might complain that a few tracks have the same melody. I think the repeated melody jams and that is obviously why it was tweaked and recycled.
So go buy this album. If you don't like it just try to beat me up. I'll warn you I don't fight fair, and I do bite.
At the very least check out the website. It opens with a large list of girls' names. Further investigating reveals that this is where the "SHE" comes from. Indulge in the video "Sister." It is a grainy video with awesome angles, and the use of depth of field is captivating.
