The Southeast Missourian asked seventh-graders at Jackson Middle School, "Mark McGwire hit 70 home runs in a season. What dream do you have that would grab the world's attention?"
Emily Curtis: "I want to play soccer when I get older and possibly play professionally. I'll try my best."
Katie Jenkins: "I want to write a book of poems about how unfair the world is today. It would deal with things like racism and prejudice."
Freda Lintner: "I want to discover a distant planet with life on it. I would like to travel in space to do this."
Tyler Hahn: "I would like to play baseball like Mark McGwire. I know it would take lots of practice, but I really like to play."
Stephanie Payne: "I would like to be a scientist and discover a medical breakthrough that would help people."
