About 400 students from 28 high schools participated in the annual District Agriculture and FFA contests.
The contests were held March 31 and April 1 at Southeast Missouri State University.
First and second place area winners by category and team were:
Livestock -- Jackson, first; Meadow Heights, second.
Soils -- Kelly, first; East Prairie, second.
Poultry -- Advance, first.
Floriculture -- Cape Girardeau, first.
Agriculture mechanics -- Advance, first; Charleston, second.
Dairy cattle -- Charleston, first; Jackson, second.
Entomology, -- East Prairie, second.
Agricultural sales -- East Prairie, first.
Forestry -- Perryville, second.
Meats -- Jackson, first; Dexter, second.
Nursery-landscape -- Kelly, first; Charleston, second.
Public speaking -- Annie Barker of East Prairie, first; Crystal Rhodes of Woodland, second.
Creed speaking -- Teresa Jones of Oran, first.
Extemporaneous public speaking -- Andy Cook of Jackson, first; Kendric Holder of Advance, second.
FFA knowledge -- East Prairie, first; Kelly, second.
The state agricultural and FFA contests will be held at the University of Missouri-Columbia April 20 and 21.
