Southeast Missouri State University officials will dedicate the David M. Barton Agriculture Research Center on Monday. University president Dr. Ken Dobbins will speak at the ceremony, which begins at 2 p.m.
In October, the university received a multimillion-dollar land donation from Southeast alumna June Barton. Income from the land, an 850-acre farm in New Madrid County, will be divided to develop the research center and provide scholarships to agriculture students.
The research center will be renamed in honor of Barton's husband, who died in 1987. It is at 6885 State Highway 25, south of Gordonville.
