The Department of Polytechnic Studies at Southeast Missouri State University will host an Advanced Technology Showcase from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and from noon to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 7 in the Otto and Della Seabaugh Polytechnic Building.
The event will give high school juniors and seniors interested in chemistry, physics, advanced math, computers, industrial technology, and career and technology center subjects a chance to explore different disciplines.
Students also will meet Department of Polytechnic Studies faculty, staff and students who will highlight the state-of-the-art facilities and technology with personal demonstrations throughout the building while learning about the academic programs.
Identical morning and afternoon sessions are available. Schools should choose one session to attend and plan to stay for the entire session.
Jenna Burr, administrative assistant for the department, said about 250 students from Illinois and Missouri are scheduled to attend, with about half from Illinois.
Sessions are capped at 100 students each, and Burr said she's had to turn people away.
Some of the schools are setting up campus tours to round out the day.
Instructors and faculty planning to bring their students should RSVP by Monday at 651-2104 or jburr@semo.edu. For more information, visit semo.edu/polytech.
