Clippard Elementary School was put on lockdown after school Monday as school officials and police sorted out a question of child custody. Police spokesman Adam Glueck said a father tried to pick up his child after the mother had been awarded temporary custody. The father left the school without the child and was later stopped by police. There was no child protection order violation and there were no arrests, Glueck said.

"I think its better to play it safe and that's what the school did," he said.

Superintendent Dr. Jim Welker said student release was delayed as police responded to the school.

"It was just as precaution just to make sure everything was resolved," he said.
