"The "Addies" are coming.
"Excellence Unmasked" is the theme for 1995 competition for the Addy Awards, an advertising competition for advertisers in the five-state region.
It will be the first Addy competition in this area, and Advertising Federation of Southeast Missouri President Maggie Friend said she expects entries from a large geographic market area.
Fifty categories are listed, including electronic and print media, sales promotion (catalogs, packaging) direct marketing and outdoor advertising, including billboards.
The area became eligible for the national program after the advertising federation was established.
The entry deadline is Feb. 14 for work completed and used during 1994, Friend said, with local competition winners to be announced in April at a special awards ceremony at the Show Me Center.
The Addy is the advertising industry's largest competition for creative excellence, Friend said.
The local competition area includes markets in the Cape Girardeau-Paducah, Ky.-Harrisburg, Ill., region.
It will be the first of a three-tiered national competition of the American Advertising Federation.
Local winners compete in district competitions and district winners compete in the national Addy competition.
Addy awards will be presented by category and one "Best in Show" award.
The contest is open to individuals, companies and organizations engaged in the creation of advertising.
An entry fee of $35 is required for each entry or campaign for members of the Advertising Federation, or $45 for non-members.
Additional information concerning the contest is available by contact Christ Moore, at Vision One/Dalcom Productions, telephone (314)-334-4585.
