A pair of accidents Thursday sent several residents of Scott and Mississippi County to the hospital. The first accident occurred at 3:40 p.m. on U.S. 62 in Bertrand, Mo. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 1987 Dodge that was towing a car failed to yield at an intersection, resulting in a 2000 Dodge hitting the towed car.

Joshua L. McKinley, 21, of Benton, Mo., the driver of the 2000 Dodge, was treated for moderate injuries at Saint Francis Medical Center. The driver of the towed car, Randy R. Graham, 34, of Bertrand was taken by ambulance to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, where he was treated for serious injuries. Clarence L. Jones, 53, of Bertrand, the driver of the 1987 Dodge, was not injured.

The second accident occurred at 8:05 p.m. near Porter, Mo. The highway patrol said a 2002 Chevrolet driven by Thomas E. Brewer, 26, of Sikeston, Mo., was traveling on County Road 518 when the vehicle ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree.

Brewer and three passengers in the vehicle, Mark A. Moore, 37, and Felica L. Warren, 28, all from Sikeston, received treatment for injuries.
