Three people were killed in Perry County accidents during the Labor Day holiday weekend, including a husband and wife.
Jason J. Schamburg, 31, was driving a motorcycle with his wife, Amy E. Schamburg, 31, on Route O near Millheim, Mo., when they collided with another vehicle at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
The couple was rounding a curve when their 1999 Harley-Davidson crossed the centerline and struck a 2005 Chevrolet truck head-on, the Missouri State Highway Patrol stated.
The Perryville, Mo., couple, who were wearing helmets, suffered multiple body injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene, Perry County Coroner Herb Miller said.
The driver of the truck, Kenneth L. Lintner, 55, of Perryville, was not injured.
In another accident, Gerald A. Andrews, 47, of Edmond, Okla., was killed when he was ejected from his sport utility vehicle after it rolled over on Interstate 55 Saturday night.
At 11:05 p.m., Andrews's 2003 Cadillac Escalade drove off the roadway. Andrews overcorrected and lost control of the SUV, which rolled across the median and came to a rest in the northbound lanes, the patrol said.
Both he and his passenger, Denise Y. Farley, 44, of Tulsa, Okla., were ejected from the vehicle.
Andrews, who suffered head and upper chest injuries, was pronounced dead at 11:45 p.m. at the scene, Miller said.
Farley was flown in serious condition to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, according to the patrol.
This was the first time Miller could remember this number of accident fatalities in Perry County during a holiday weekend.
