KENNETT, Mo. -- Six people were injured, including two seriously, in a traffic accident on Highway 25 north of Kennett on Saturday afternoon that left both lanes of the highway closed to traffic for some time.

The accident occurred when 28-year-old Ashley Kash of Hayti, Missouri, pulled onto the highway from a private drive and struck a vehicle driven by 52-year-old Karen Armes of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, according to Troop E of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Kash was seriously injured, as was a passenger in her car, 36-year-old Motasha Davis, also of Hayti. Both were taken by helicopter to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

Armes received moderate injures.

Three passengers sustained minor injuries. They were identified as 4-year-old Cristian Acevedo, 6-year-old Nathaniel Moore and 12-year-old Luxtin White, all of Poplar Bluff. All four were taken to Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center for treatment.
