Fire crews from Millersville, Fruitland and Gordonville responded to an early Monday morning fire that destroyed an abandoned house in northern Cape Girardeau County.
According to Chief Rodney Hurst of the Millersville Rural Fire Department, the call for the fire came about 1 a.m. By the time Millersville fire crews arrived at the scene, the roof of the house had caved in and the entire second floor had been badly burned. Nobody was living in the house, which had been used for storage, and it had no electricity lines connected, Hurst said.
Hurst said the house was destroyed, and the fire's cause hadn't been determined as of Monday afternoon. Fire crews from the Fruitland Area Fire Protection District and the Gordonville Fire Department assisted in putting out the fire, Hurst said.
