Jackson police say a man tried to abduct a 9-year-old boy in Jackson on Saturday afternoon.

According to a news release from Jackson Police Department Capt. Rodney Barnes, officers went to the 200 block of Lacey Street after receiving reports of an alleged abduction.

The boy told officers an adult Caucasian or Hispanic man between 20 and 40 years old grabbed him and tried to drag him into a nearby wooded area. The man was described as having a slender build, brown hair and goatee, blue jeans with white sneakers and a white T-shirt with a skull and horns logo on it.

The boy said he escaped when the man put his hand over his mouth and the boy bit it. The assailant then ran into the woods, the boy told officers.

Police searched the woods and the surrounding neighborhood but were unable to find witnesses. They also did not find evidence in the woods such as footprints or disturbed vegetation.
