FARBER, Mo. (AP) -- Police say an 83-year-old man is jailed on charges that he attacked two men with a hammer in a northeast Missouri park.
Audrain County Sheriff Stuart Miller says deputies were called to a city park in Farber early Saturday where a fight had broken out. There they found Edward Kempker and two assault victims, one of them with a broken wrist. Both suffered bumps and bruises.
Miller says the elderly man was charged Monday with first- and second- degree assault, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.
Kempker is jailed in Audrain County on $100,000 bond.
A probable cause statement said Kempker told deputies that he wanted to "put the hammer to" intruders who had repeatedly broken into his home.
