MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- An 8-year-old girl was seriously injured Tuesday when she was thrown from a wrecked vehicle, then pinned underneath it.

Missouri Highway Patrol reports indicate Rachael Vance wasn't wearing a seat belt when the accident occurred.

Sandra Vance, 34, was driving on Highway 51, just north of Marble Hill, Mo., when she lost control of her vehicle.

The car ran off the left side of the roadway and overturned several times, ejecting the little girl.

Both Vance and her daughter were flown by helicopter to St. Francis Medical Center, where they are listed in serious condition.
