FRUITLAND -- Six Perryville youths were injured early Saturday morning in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 61 four miles north of Fruitland.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said one car carrying two teens had overturned on the roadway when the second car carrying four teens crashed into it.
All six people were taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
The initial accident occurred about 1:45 a.m., the patrol said, when John C. Thompson, 17, drove his vehicle off the right side of the road as he was traveling north. When he tried to regain control of the car, it overturned on the highway.
Thompson was listed in stable condition in the surgical unit at St. Francis Saturday night.
A passenger in his car, Jason Seabaugh, 17, suffered moderate injuries, the patrol said, and was treated and released from the hospital's emergency room.
At 1:48 p.m., a car driven northbound by Kristine Dunker, 19, rounded a curve on the highway and hit the overturned vehicle.
She was treated and released at the hospital as were two passengers in her vehicle: Jason Kirn, 18; and Shannon Kirn, 20. The patrol said another passenger, Tracy Wibbenmeyer, 19, suffered minor injuries, but he did not receive treatment at the hospital.
