A $5 million winning Missouri Lottery ticket was purchased in Cape Girardeau, according to a lottery news release.
The winning ticket was purchased at Discount Smoke Shop, 340 S. Sprigg St., and was claimed by a lawyer representing Wisepenny Enterprises LLC. The lawyer was not named in the news release. The prize was claimed April 20.
Winners have the option of collecting the prize as an annuity or as a $3.1 million lump sum. Wisepenny Enterprises LLC has decided to take the lump sum option. Kevin Spaeth, a Cape Girardeau lawyer, is the registered agent with Wisepenny, and business filings list a Cape Girardeau address for Wisepenny.
The game, "$5,000,000 Cash Extravaganza," began Jan. 23, 2010, but this is the first top prize of three to be claimed so far. Six $1 million second-prizes have also been claimed.
