KENNETT, Mo. -- The Dunklin County Sheriff's Department is investigating a shooting of a 4-year-old boy that occurred Saturday afternoon.
According to Sheriff Bob Holder, it happened at a residence on Highway C in the south part of Dunklin County. Earlier reports said the shooting occurred in Senath, Missouri.
The boy suffered a gunshot wound to the leg.
After initial treatment at Twin Rivers Regional Medical Center in Kennett, he was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He is reported in stable condition.
Holder said his department still was investigating the shooting.
