FULTON, Mo. -- Three employees have been injured during an accident at a central Missouri nuclear plant.
Ameren Missouri on Tuesday night said in a written statement that the accident occurred shortly after 5 p.m. in the switch yard area of its Callaway Energy Center.
The company declined to elaborate about what happened, but Callaway County Emergency Management Director Michelle Kidwell said a 911 call reported burn victims, including two with burns to the face.
Kidwell said a medical helicopter crew was among the emergency responders dispatched to the nuclear facility about 25 miles northeast of Jefferson City, Mo.
St. Louis-based Ameren said the incident did not affect operations of the nuclear plant.
Ameren said it was not providing details about the status of the three injured workers out of respect for their privacy.
