Two Scott City men, driven to the establishment by a female accomplice, are accused of breaking into a Scott City bar about 8 a.m. Wednesday, damaging numerous gambling machines and collecting $40 in change.
Scott County sheriff’s deputies arrested Joseph Walker, 30, and Tricia Roberts, 29, both of Scott City, on Wednesday afternoon.
The Scott County Prosecuting Attorney’s office charged Walker, Roberts and Joshua R. Myers, 25, also of Scott City, with second-degree burglary, misdemeanor theft and misdemeanor property damage.
Myers was still at large Thursday. His bond was set at $25,000 cash or surety.
Roberts’ and Walker’s bonds were set at $5,000 and $10,000 cash or surety, respectively.
Deputies responded to the Boar’s Nest Bar about 9:30 a.m. to find the front door of the business had been forced open, and there was an impression of a shoe on the bottom right portion of the door, according to a probable-cause affidavit filed by detective Barry Morgan.
Deputies saw money doors at the bottom of several gambling machines were broken and featured the same shoe print, Morgan wrote.
Surveillance footage at the scene captured a male suspect with a dark-colored bandanna over his face, wearing a dark-colored jacket with white stripes and red shoes, and a male suspect wearing white clothing over his head, a long-sleeved, white shirt and white shoes, Morgan wrote.
Joyce Smith, owner of the Boar’s Nest Bar, watched the break-in with binoculars and saw a white 2005 Chevrolet Impala parked near the entrance of the bar, Morgan wrote.
She wrote down the license-plate number and an inscription on the window that read, “I am beautiful,” according to the affidavit.
The vehicle was registered to Roberts, and deputies made contact with her at her house in the 300 block of Ruth Drive, Morgan wrote.
She said she had been out in the country and had dropped off two people, according to the affidavit.
After her arrest, Roberts alerted officers to a red pickup truck with Arkansas license plates that drove by the patrol car, Morgan wrote.
Deputies pulled the vehicle over and noticed the driver was wearing red shoes with a tread pattern that matched the damaged door and gambling machines, according to the affidavit.
Walker was arrested after he was identified by Roberts, and he said he committed the burglary with Myers, Morgan wrote.
Walker said they got $40 out of the burglary, which he gave to Myers, Morgan wrote.
