A three-car accident in front of Super 8 Motel on North Kingshighway sent one person to the hospital late Wednesday morning.
Christopher Bryan Scott of Jackson was treated and released at Southeast Missouri Hospital following the accident, which occurred at 10:53 a.m. at 2011 N. Kingshighway.
Cape Girardeau police said the accident occurred when a northbound car driven by Joshua Wayne Holbrook of Cape Girardeau came quickly upon another northbound car driven by Scott.
Police said Holbrook tried to avoid running into Scott's vehicle. The Holbrook vehicle swerved to the right and ran off the roadway before coming back onto the road where it struck Scott's car. Scott's car then struck a southbound, Southeast Missouri State University patrol car. The car was driven by Lawrence Edward Fleming, an officer with the school's department of public safety.
The Holbrook vehicle and the DPS car came to rest in a ditch in front of the motel. Scott's car ended up in the driveway of the motel.
Holbrook, Fleming and another DPS officer, Kenneth Dale Mayberry, suffered minor injuries but weren't taken to the hospital. Mayberry was a passenger in the DPS car. All three vehicles were towed.
