APPLETON -- Two Cape Girardeau County teenagers were injured early Sunday morning when the vehicle they were in ran off Interstate 55 near Appleton.
Amelia McMillan, 19, of Cape Girardeau and Jared Cattoor, 18, of Jackson both were taken to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau with injuries they received in the accident.
The Missouri Highway Patrol said McMillan was driving the vehicle southbound at about 2:15 a.m., when the car left the road, went into the median and overturned.
Neither McMillan nor Cattoor were wearing seatbelts, the patrol said.
Earlier in the night, at about 10:15 Saturday, a Jackson boy was injured when he lost control of a four-wheeled, all-terrain vehicle on Cape Girardeau County Road 533 near Fruitland.
Brandon Christie, 14, was taken via LifeBeat helicopter to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau with "serious" injuries, said a spokesman with the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The patrol said Christie was pulling a small utility trailer with the 1992 Kawasaki ATV when he apparently lost control, left the roadway and overturned in a ditch.
