ANNA, Ill. -- A second suspect faces a first-degree murder charge in connection with the beating death of a 46-year-old man, the Union County, Ill., state's attorney reported Monday.

Charging documents show Travis D. Turner, 25, of Dongola, Ill., is accused of killing Jimmy Morrison of Anna by striking him in the head with a piece of lumber.

Jessie L. Bell, 34, of Anna also was charged with first-degree murder in the case, Union County State's Attorney Tyler Edmonds reported Saturday.

Bell is accused of beating Morrison about the head with his fists, charging documents show.

In a news release Monday, Edmonds reported Morrison was found about 3 a.m. Saturday outside a home on Douglas Street in Anna and was pronounced dead a short time later at Union County Hospital.

Anna police, Illinois State Police, the Union County Sheriff's Department and the Union County coroner are investigating, the release stated.

Both men are being held in the Jackson County, Ill., Jail -- Bell without bond and Turner on $1 million bond -- and are set for an initial appearance at 9 a.m. Thursday in Union County Circuit Court, the release stated.
